Although we did not get a hold of the 7-inch Amazon Kindle Fire tablet as of the moment, an Amazon representative gave a demo on the tablet’s exciting features. The representative answered many questions from people who watched and covered the demo while performing different tasks on the new tablet like the new user interface.
There are rumors circulating around the web saying that the new Kindle Fire has some similarities to the PlayBook Tablet PC of BlackBerry, and we’ll leave you the benefit of the doubt. Unexpectedly, the hardware in the new Kindle Fire is evidently related to BlackBerry’s hardware, but I think there is nothing wrong with that. The PlayBook from BlackBerry actually feels good in the hand, so if the Fire have the same physical characteristics, then it will also feel good to hold.
Unlike other tablets in the market today, the Kindle Fire will only have a single physical input or button. The only physical input you will see is the power button, so if you want to control the volume of your Fire, you need to go into the status bar. We still don’t know if it will be disappointing in the long run or not, but we’ll all know soon as many buyers give feedback.
Based on the demo, the performance of the software is quite smart on the tablet because of its snappy task switching. The new tablet will use the Silk browser for internet browsing and it actually performed well as promised by Amazon during the demo. The tablet will have a 1 GHz dual-core TI OMAP processor like most of the average tablets in the market today have, together with a bit lower 512MB of RAM. The 8 GB of internal storage is also small but you need not to worry because you can always sync your files into the cloud storage via internet.
For only $199, you will have this amazing tiny device and decide whether it’s a better option than the Nook Color. Well, it’s too early to say.
